Social Science

Excursion to the Railway Museum
Social Science offers a broad range of subjects. All students study National Curriculum History as a core subject in Years 8 and 9, building upon knowledge, understanding and key historical skills that were gained in primary school. Students select Social Science subjects that they would like to study throughout the course of their secondary education on the basis of their strengths and subjects that they enjoy. In Year 11 and 12 four senior Social Science subjects offered are authority or OP subjects, whilst Tourism is offered as non-OP.
Each of the Year 12 subjects, Geography, Economics, Ancient History and Modern History is represented by a subject captain, who plays a very active role in promoting subject-based and school-wide events. Most notable events include Earth Hour, Anzac Flower Tribute Ceremony, Anzac Memorabilia, presentation of the Anzac Assembly speech and promotion of field excursions on the Social Science photo display board.
