Student Leadership

Numbers are a maximum and may change from year to year at the principal’s discretion and approval

*Subject Captains are part of the Academic side of the school and will receive a badge at the Leadership Assembly.  Only the Faculty reps from this group will form part of the Leadership Model.  This may be taken in turn by the subject captains or only one selected.  This keeps the group to a manageable level for the School Captains.

* To nominate for any year 12 position the student must be an approved senior badge holder. See nomination form for criteria and responsibilities.

* All Badge holders will be approved by the principal and this status may be removed at any stage if the above responsibilities are failing to be maintained.

Generic  Criteria for all Leadership Positions in the School

  • Regular attendance to all classes

  • Explained absences and late arrivals

  • Correctly wear the school uniform (as per Redbook)

  • High Standard of behaviour in and out of class time

  • Minimum of a high standard in behaviour and effort in semester one report card
    * The above criteria is supported by evidence using school database processes

Academic School Captain

 CRITERIA

  • History of high academic performance
  • Member of peer tutoring group
  • Participation in academic competitions

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain a high academic performance
  • Represent school at Functions (Eg Parent Teacher, Year 8 Info, Year 10 info morning, SETP interviews)
  • Minutes of meetings including reports form classrooms through faculty reps
  • Maintain Exemplary Standards  in Uniform, Attendance, Behaviour, Punctuality
  • Be an executive member of Committee
  • Lead and organise Peer Tutoring
  • Host Leadership Assembly
  • Host Academic Assembly
  • Co-host Awards Evening
  • Lead the school Based Forums
  • Participate in a charity based activity e.g. Red Shield, Salvation Army, 40 hour famine, shave for a cure
  • Participation in ANZAC Day March

 Cultural School Captain

  CRITERIA

  • History of high performance in culturally based activities e.g. Art competitions, performing arts completion’s, languages based competition’s, multicultural assembly performance’s.

  • Participated in culturally based activities across school

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain Exemplary Standards in Uniform, Attendance, Behaviour, Punctuality
  • Host Cultural Events including Arts Awards
  • Host Anzac day assembly
  • Executive Member of Cultural Committee
  • Maintain active participation in Cultural based activities
  • High presence in all school cultural events
  • Participation in ANZAC Day March
  • Lead the school Based Forums
  • Represent school at Functions (Eg Parent Teacher, Year 8 Info, Year 10 info morning, SETP interviews
  • Participate in a charity based activity eg Red Shield, Salvation Army, 40 hour famine, shave for a cure
  • Assist with performing arts evening
  • Encourage participation in school cultural activities

 Sport School Captains

 CRITERIA

  • History of high performance in sporting activities
  • Participated in interschool sport or higher level sport
  • Active participation in carnivals (swimming, athletics, cross country)

 RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Maintain Exemplary Standards in Uniform, Attendance, Behaviour, Punctuality
  • Maintain active participation in all whole school sporting activities
  • Encourage participation of school students in all whole school sporting events
  • High presence in all whole school sporting carnivals, assistance with set up and pack up
  • Lead and organise at least one lunchtime sporting activity e.g. student teacher challenge
  • Executive member of Sporting Committee
  • Host Sports Awards Evening
  • Participate in a charity based activity e.g. Red Shield,  Salvation Army & participate in Anzac Day March

Subject Captain

 CRITERIA

  •  History of high performance in subject

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain very high standard in Uniform, Attendance, Behaviour, Punctuality
  • Refer to information sheet provided by HOD of specific faculty requirements.   
  • Be prepared to be a faculty rep and attend a minimum of 2 meeting per term
  • Maintain High Academic history in subject area.
  • Assist in set up of academic and leadership assembly
  • Participate in a charity based activity eg Red Shield, Salvation Army, 40 hour famine, shave for a cure or support the local community ANZAC day march

 Faculty Reps

 CRITERIA

  •  History of high participation in faculty events

 RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Report  to academic committee on faculty activities
  • Liaise with HOD and faculty captains to write magazine article
  • Liaise with HOD and Faculty captains to write one newsletter article
  • Participate in a charity based activity eg Red Shield, Salvation Army, 40 hour famine, shave for a cure or support the local community Anzac Day march

Extra-Curricular Captain 

 CRITERIA

  • History of high performance/participation in the cultural areas of Dance, Drama, Music and the Visual Arts

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain exemplary in Uniform, Attendance, Behaviour, Punctuality
  • Form part of the Cultural Committee
  • Liaising with Faculty HODS to determine how they assist in cultural whole school events
  • Promote whole school cultural events
  • Participate in a charity based activity eg Red Shield, Salvation Army, 40 hour famine, shave for a cure or support the local community ANZAC day march

 Clan Captain

 CRITERIA 

  • History of High performance/participation in school sporting events

 RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Maintain Exemplary in Uniform, Attendance, Behaviour, Punctuality
  • Active Participation in all 3 Carnivals
  • Participate in one season of interschool sport
  • Participation in one GBS Gala day
  • Promote whole school sporting activities
  • Form part of the sporting Committee
  • Lunch Time Equipment Borrowing
  • Participate in a charity based activity eg Red Shield, Salvation Army, 40 hour famine, shave for a cure or support the local community ANZAC day march

 Year Level Rep

 CRITERIA 

  • History of high performance/participation in academic/cultural/sporting school activities

 RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintain high standard in Uniform, Attendance, Behaviour, Punctuality
  • Become a member of one committee
  • Fulfil the distributed commitments as decided by the executive members
  • Report to year level on upcoming events from committee
  • Demonstrate capacity to be a future leader in school Eg Participation in community Anzac day march
