Simple steps to prepare your device for school from home
You will need current Education Queensland (EQ) username and password to proceed. For students new to EQ, your EQ network accounts need to be first set up. This can take time, especially at the beginning of the year, you will be informed once it's ready.
The user profile needs to have Administrator privilege during the preparation process. This can be removed later on.
Once prepared, your device will be able to automatically connect to the school network (EQNET) when it is brought to the school.

Learning to drive first requires supervision, it should be the same when young people learn to use digital devices responsibly. The Growing Up Digital Phase 1 research surveyed 1876 Australian educators - in the last 3-5 years leading to 2020:
- 84% teachers believe that digital technologies are a growing distraction in the learning environment.
- More than nine of ten educators think that the number of children with psychological, social and behavioural challenges has increased.
- 81% teachers surveyed noted increases in the prevalence of online harassment and bullying among their students.

DO NOT use your child’s EQ email (username@eq.edu.au) address, but a personal one instead. For personal mobile phones: Family Zone and other parental control solutions of your choice. Note: Most of parental control solutions DO NOT work within the EQ network, please dedicate their use on personal mobile networks only, NOT on BYOx devices which connect to EQ network for learning.
