Kana Club
Students of Japanese and friends join for lunch in D11 each week to work on their hiragana belts and katakana levels. This is an informal opportunity for students to engage in the language with students from across various year levels and develop sempai-kohai (senior-junior) relationships.
Education Perfect
Education Perfect is an online website platform which offers students support for their learning across the curriculum in lessons and as an extra-curricular opportunity. Students are able to practise, revise and receive instant feedback on responses. It even enables students to re-access activities over time at spaced intervals to re-evaluate how their learning is going.
Languages students studying German, Japanese, Chinese and Immersion Chinese, as well as many MacGregor State High School students who have other background languages such as Arabic, Greek and Hindi have excelled in the Education Perfect Global Competition for more than 8 years. Over 300 MacGregor students compete in this extra-curricular competition involving more than 70 countries and 2155 schools. Additionally, our school excels in the Education Perfect Queensland Regional Language Competition which involves around 500 schools. Students are awarded with certificates and trophies annually in recognition of their outstanding efforts.
SMARTstart
SMARTstart provides an opportunity for students to gather
in the Learning Hub after school each Monday to Thursday. The program offers
assessment guidance, research techniques, organisational strategies and study
skills advice from qualified staff members.
Club 17
A student-led club open
to Years 7-12 which promotes the Sustainable Development Goals set by the
United Nations in 2015. The period
between 2020 and 2030 has been classified as the decade of action. We have to
work together as global citizens achieve these goals by the year 2030, also
known as Vision 2030.
Art Mindfulness Club
Art Mindfulness Club a twice weekly club
that offers a space for students who wish to unwind, reflect and make art. This
club is open to Art and non-Art students and there is no formal commitment
required – students are welcome to use this space as little or as often as they
like. Hosted by our Teacher Aide, students are provided with music and
materials, alongside monthly themes for artmaking.
