Musicals

School musicals have long been a valued part of MacGregor’s cultural performance activities. Scheduled bi-annually, participation in the school musical is available to students from Years 7 to 12 via audition. As a school community, we believe it is important for students with a passion for The Performing Arts to have the opportunity to develop their skills in singing, dancing and acting through live performance.

Students work with industry professionals who direct, choreograph and provide vocal coaching leading toward public performance. They will also work with stage managers, lighting and sound crew during production week.

In order to provide such a multifaceted experience, each student contributes to a levy which supplements production costs.

Our 2023 musical, Freaky Friday, is currently being produced.
Previous musicals include Hairspray, The Wedding Singer, The Wiz, The Adams Family and Bring It On-The Musical, just to name a few.

Creative Generation

Creative Generation State Schools Onstage is an annual variety show that celebrates the artistic achievements of students in Queensland state primary and secondary schools. Students nominate in December and audition in term 1 of the following school year. Four shows are presented in July at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Brisbane.

Students involved in the show gain invaluable learning experiences in a real world arts environment, with professional mentors and creative team. MacGregor has been a proud school participant of the show since it began in 2005 and continues to support this great performance opportunity for our dancers, singers and musicians.

Creative Generation Excellence Awards

The Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art recognise and promote excellence in senior visual art education throughout Queensland state and non-state schools.

Since 1990, the program has helped raise community awareness of the degree of sophistication in concepts, diversity of technical competence, and the high standard of visual art education in Queensland secondary schools.
