Musicals
School musicals have long been a cherished part of MacGregor’s cultural and performing arts programs. Now held biannually, they offer students from Years 7 to 12 the opportunity to audition and take part in a full-scale production. As a school community, we are committed to providing students with a passion for The Performing Arts a platform to develop their skills in singing, dancing, and acting through live performance.
Under the guidance of industry professionals, students receive expert direction, choreography, and vocal coaching as they prepare for the stage. They also gain hands-on experience working alongside stage managers, lighting and sound crews during production week, leading up to their performances at Sunnybank Performing Arts Centre (SunPAC).
To support the high-quality production experience, each student contributes to a levy that helps cover essential costs.

Multicultural Festival
MacGregor State High School’s Multicultural Festival is a tradition that celebrates the rich cultural diversity of our school community. Held biannually at the Sunnybank Performing Arts Centre (SunPAC), this event showcases student choreographed cultral performances.
Students prepare and audition a variety of performances, including cultural dances, vocal acts, and instrumental music. Many of these acts incorporate multimedia elements, enhancing the experience with visual storytelling on the screen above the stage.
This festival is a true highlight of MacGregor’s cultural calendar, bringing together students, families, and the wider community in a celebration of heritage, creativity, and unity.
Creative Generation
Creative Generation State Schools Onstage is an annual variety show that celebrates the artistic achievements of students in Queensland state primary and secondary schools. Students nominate in December and audition in Term 1 of the following school year. Four shows are presented in July at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, South Brisbane.
Students involved in the show gain invaluable learning experiences in a real world arts environment, with professional mentors and creative team. MacGregor has been a proud school participant of the show since it began in 2005 and continues to support this great performance opportunity for our dancers, singers and musicians.
Creative Generation Excellence Awards
The Creative Generation Excellence Awards in Visual Art recognise and promote excellence in senior visual art education throughout Queensland state and non-state schools.
Since 1990, the program has helped raise community awareness of the degree of sophistication in concepts, diversity of technical competence, and the high standard of visual art education in Queensland secondary schools.
