General Absence

If a student is going to be absent, parents or carers are asked to notify the school as soon as possible. If no notification is received, an automatic SMS alert will be sent to the parent or carer.

Please send a text or email with the following information:

  • Name and Clan
  • Date of absence
  • Reason for absence
  • Expected duration

Running Late

All students are expected to be at school before 8.45 am.

If you're late, follow these steps:

  • Before 8.55 am: Go directly to your Clan class to be marked off the roll
  • After 8.55 am: Go directly to Student Services to be signed in
An explanation for all late arrivals is expected to be provided by a parent/carer by text message or email.

Early Departures

Students leaving early are to follow this process:

  • Parents/caregivers must notify the school by text or email with the following information:
    • Explanation of early departure
    • Time of departure
    • Reason for departure
    • If the student has permission to leave alone or if parent/caregiver will pick-up the student
    • Parent signature (if letter)

Once parent contact has been made, students are to collect a leave request slip from Student Services. At the time of their departure from school, they must show this to their class teacher and report directly to Student Services to be signed out and issued a leave pass.

If no contact by a parent or caregiver has been made to the school, students will not be permitted to leave school early.

Long Term Absence

If your student will be absent for 10 or more school days, please contact our Attendance Officer via absence@macgregorshs.eq.edu.au to have an exemption form application issued.
