In Queensland, NAPLAN tests are now conducted in late Term 1. Practice session(s) are to be held in Week 2 and 3 of Term 1. More specific communication will be sent to you via email.
NAPLAN assesses literacy and numeracy skills that students are already learning at school. It
is just one aspect of a school's assessment and reporting process – it
does not replace ongoing assessments made by teachers about student
performance; however, students and parents may use individual results to
discuss progress with teachers.
Read the NAPLAN Online information brochure for parents and carers. To see the format of the online tests, visit the public demonstration site.
Over the coming weeks all students in Year 7 and 9 will be asked to ensure:
- their BYOx device is fully charged with whole battery each day and joined to the School network (see how-to guide here).
- that they have working wired earphones or headphones for all tests including practice tests.
- meaningful participation in the practice session(s) in early Term 1 to ensure
One
of the main benefits of NAPLAN Online is that it uses tailored (or
adaptive) testing. This means that students receive questions better
suited to their abilities, giving them more opportunity to demonstrate
what they know and can do.
